As part of a lesson on World War II, Westhampton Beach Middle School eighth graders in Bryan Schaumloffel’s social studies class met virtually with two special guests from the Westhampton Beach Historical Society.

The speakers shared a wealth of information about local artifacts related to the war. The first to share was former Westhampton Beach teacher Peter Cuthbert, who served in the Korean war and in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. His father-in-law served during WWII. Also supplying students with historical facts was Dorothy Berdinka, a former teacher who is now a trustee/educational coordinator of the historical society.
