Fifth grade students at Westhampton Beach Elementary School recently created their own water filtration systems as part of a science unit related to the earth’s fresh water sources. For the hands-on lesson, students used plastic water bottles, coffee filters and gravel to construct their own water filters, which they then tested for effectiveness.
