Westhampton Beach varsity cheer earns spot at nationals

The Westhampton Beach High School varsity cheer team is heading to the UCA High School Cheerleading Nationals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Jan. 29-Feb 2. This marks the second time in the program’s history that the team has qualified for nationals.

“We are very proud of the team and the wonderful job that their coach has done,” said Jason Cohen, director of athletics.

The team earned the coveted spot by placing in the top three in their division at the UCA Regional Competition, a milestone that reflects their hard work, dedication and teamwork.

“I am so proud of these girls,” said coach Alexa Bennett-Roseman.

The Westhampton Beach School District extends its congratulations to the team: Ariel Alvarado, Colbie Canty, Abigail Cooper, Emily Edwards, Kennedy Fives, Emily Flynn, Mariah Gilliam, Sophia Guzman, Adrienne Hardin, Mariana Ramos, Aryes Saldierna, Khloe Salerno, Kara Salvaggio, Katherine Sattler, Danika Schneyer and Mariam Soyos.

Westhampton Beach soccer players raise funds for Kicks for Cancer

The Westhampton Beach High School girls varsity soccer team recently wrapped up a successful Kicks for Cancer fundraiser and awareness campaign. Through teamwork, the players raised $2,000 for the cause by collecting donations and wearing pink during a recent game to help spread awareness. In addition, the team supported Peter’s Packages, a new community service initiative founded by student Elizabeth Sultan in memory of her father.
