Westhampton Beach High School junior guard Kate Sweet surpassed 1,000 points in her high school basketball career during a game on Feb. 2 against Harborfields, where she scored 21 points, helping lead the team to a 68-46 win. Earlier in the season, Sweet was named to Newsday’s top 100 Long Island girls basketball players. She also holds All-County, All-Division, All-League and All-Conference titles.

Westhampton Beach High School athlete Truman Hahn was once again named to Newsday’s Top 100 Long Island Boys Basketball Players list. Hahn, a senior guard, was honored for leading Westhampton Beach to a playoff game by averaging 12.1 to 15.5 points per game last season. The district congratulates him on a job well done.

Westhampton Beach High School girls basketball players Sandra Clarke, Kate Sweet and Jasmine Taylor were named to Newsday’s Top 100 Long Island Girls Basketball Players list. Clarke, a senior, was named for averaging 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game; Sweet, a junior, was recognized for averaging 12 points, four rebounds and six steals last season; and Taylor, a senior, earned her spot on the list for averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds. The district extends its congratulations to all three athletes.
