Westhampton Beach Elementary School students are raising funds for their school through a new fundraiser that kicked off on Oct. 1 with an inspiring assembly. The fundraiser, Raise Craze, raises funds through acts of kindness.

Through Oct. 15, students will be asking for donations and performing acts of kindness in return. They are pledging to do individual and schoolwide good deeds, including writing cards to residents of local assisted living facilities, helping to pick up trash, collecting crayons for homeless shelters and sharing positive messages. They will also be participating in a bubble fun run featuring an obstacle course on Oct. 11.

If students attain the school’s fundraising goal of $30,000, Principal Jeremy Garritano promises to allow himself to be slimed. The funds will be used to purchase STEM equipment and upgrades to the school’s greenhouse, as well as provide for field trips.
